Some of the people who claim to do their own work (as opposed to taking cues from the people who are paid to evaluate talent) went out of their way to belittle those who expressed even the slightest degree of skepticism about Geno Smith or who admitted to paying any heed to the negatives coming out of the NFL media about him. If you weren't involved in any of that and if you weren't one of the people calling the pros morons for not sharing your opinion, you have no reason to be defensive.
There's nothing wrong with having an opinion that turns out to be wrong because you didn't have access to all of the pertinent information. It's just nice to keep the fact that you don't have access to all the pertinent information in mind when you decide how forcefully you want to argue that position.
