Kap just happened to come along and fall in his lap. Alot of NFL people and coaches think Alex's career was set back by disfunction in the organization and not his lack of talent. Kaepernick didn't fall into his lap...
Before the draft Kaepernick was thought to be a 3rd day pick. Then he started getting a little love and people started projecting him as a day 2 pick. Then when the draft came Harbaugh traded up in the 2nd to pick him.
