If you were to set a plate of bacon in front of me and a plate of salt and vinegar chips in front of me, there would be no contest at all.
Bacon has perhaps taken on an exaggerated stature as the solution to all man's problems, that is true. However, when it comes to snack foods, either as a complement or as the main snack itself, bacon remains second to none.
And even if I give you bacon, there remains things like summer sausage and/or a nice peppered prosciutto. Heck, the jalapeno/cheddar venison snack sticks in my deep freeze are pretty damn amazing. In other words, several different types of 'snackin' meat' come out ahead of salt and vinegar chips.
And if I'm using a dip, all the tang of the vinegar is going to do is distract from my chosen dip. At that point, just give me a good ol' plain kettle chip.
Sorry, you're not gonna get me there. I enjoy a good salt and vinegar chip, but they aren't even close to the premier snack food. Gimme a wheat thin with some cream cheese and a sweet/hot jalapeno slice every time.
