I love almost everything about The Rome. I've bragged on it a couple of times on here; Chicken Romano and the seafood chowder is as good a meal as you can find in CoMo. If you like the calzones, head out there for Brunch and try the breakfast version; good stuff.

As to Shakespeare's - yeah, it's a little overrated. I'll take Wise Guys and even Italian Village ahead of it most days (Wise Guys is a hands down winner in Columbia). It has it's place, but it's nowhere near my favorite pizza in town. I've found that adding cheddar is about the only way to make it really good.
