Completely agree. The iPad is great for CONSUMING content. It's not so good at CREATING content. That's what you use a Windows PC or a Mac to do.
If you insist on creating content with an iPad, you really need to add a $100 Bluetooth keyboard. However, you're still extremely limited because you can't run Microsoft Word or Excel on an iPad.
