I played goalie in soccer a lot in gym class--you really have to have your head in the game as a goalie, it's sort of a cerebral position (just like catching sorta is). you're like the field general, in that you have a view of the field that nobody else does--from the batter's position. you have to make sure everybody's in the right position and call the plays as it were.
