This is one of those arguments that falls into the "quarterbacking rating is a useless stat" category, which is something I've been saying for about as long as I can remember. Because of the emphasis placed on comp percentage and yardage, you can have stat inflation when a QB completes a high percentage of short passes. It's to me the same sort of problem you get when you rank total offense and defense based on yardage. It's a fluff stat, because winning isn't about yards, it's about points. Unless you're talking a ridiculous number of yards, like say Brees approaching 5500 in 2011, in which case it's almost a foregone conclusion that he's also responsible for a lot of TDs, since it's next to impossible to throw for that many yards without getting into the end zone. But there's, to me, no real good argument for positives around a dink-and-dunk QB.

(don't get me started on Rich Gannon...)
