That's not meant to denigrate pure lifters in any way. Lifting is specialized. Cross-fit is versatile. There are more real-world applications in my life for cross fit. That may be different for you.
That's because being muscular is not an advantage in combat sports because of loss of flexiblity and muscle requires more oxygen so you fatigue quicker.

So you think most NFL players look more like people that crossfit? What about sprinters? What did McGwire, Bonds, and Sosa look like?

I find that having my size and strength comes in more handy in every day situations. When you are cock strong you are cock strong. It only sucks when people always think "Hey BCD looks like he could lift a house lets call him to help move"
