But that's the crux of the trade argument. Were the Royals better off with Shields and a negative WAR player in RF, or would they have been better with Myers and a FA pitcher, using the same money applied to Shields? Statistically, most thought it was going to be a wash, barring Davies not being something spectacular.
Oh, but spectacular he's been. And, in true Royals style, we've mortgaged the future for mediocrity in the present.
