Decibel History; There are many comments related to our decibel records and highest. I spent some time last week researching our records online. As most Chiefs fans are aware, in the 1990's a professional sound metering firm recorded decibels measuring 116 at Arrowhead. This established an NFL known record high, and set the bar for all other teams to compete against. It was this historical record that led to world wide media and others associated with the NFL in some way, to bestow the title of, "Loudest Stadium in the NFL" upon Arrowhead & Chiefs fans. However, since that historical 116 decibel record was established in the 90's, Chiefs fans themselves have beat their own record. By the late 90's professional sound analysts were measuring decibels averaging in the 120's during games that drew peak attendance. It has been reported Chiefs fans have even set decibels as high as in to the 130's, though I have not been able to officially confirm those reports. Each NFL stadium has it's own professional sound metering equipment, and each franchise maintains game decibel records in their archives. I'm unable to access those records archived at the Chiefs, which is why I can't confirm we've reached as high as in to the 130's as reported by some media sources.
