Quick question (and I don't know the answer to this). But what effect does it have that many of these employees may be married and prefer their spouse's plan? I see that happen a lot with my peer group.

As the owner of a small, but growing business, I find it to be odd that employees that can afford insurance through an employer don't want it. We have roughly 35 mainly full time employees and only 4 are paying for insurance through us. Everyone else declined it.
We used to have a group plan, but because nobody wanted to pay for insurance, we decided to drop it because it made the premiums for everyone else expensive. Now, we pay (I believe) either 60% or 65% of any plan that the employee acquires on their own. For most of our employees, it's a $20-$30 deduction per check (biweekly) for insurance - yet none of them want it.
Just baffles me.
