Random thought about commentaries:
Was just thinking about this earlier tonight. On the "Born On the 4th of July" commentary, Oliver Stone mentioned that the role of Ron Kovic was intended to be played by Al Pacino, but things didn't work out and they were real upset about it at first. With that said, THANK GOD it didn't work out. I know this may butt-hurt Pacino-lovers and/or Cruise-haters, but I don't care what anyone says...Pacino wouldn't have come close to capturing Ron Kovic the way Cruise did. I am by no means a Cruise fanboy or anything...his acting never stood out as being anything extraordinary to me in anything besides BOT4OJ, but holy hell he did a fantastic job in that movie. That movie is one of my favorites and if Pacino ended up being lead, it probably would have been an utterly forgettable movie to me. To clarify, I'm not a Cruise lover or Pacino hater...I just think for that particular movie, things fell in to place perfectly.
