I'll gladly take near-elite. I'll gladly take a guy with the
potential to become near-elite.
And that's the thing - while people defending Alex Smith to the death continue to claim there are only 4-5 elite QB's, they conveniently do not mention that there are many more guys that are near-elite or have the talent to become elite/near-elite.
Love him or hate him, Jaws was spot on with his assessment of AS as the 20th best starting QB in the league. And that's not good enough.
