You're not going to get anything close to equivalent value for Hosmer in moving him at this time. Not that helps you as much as he has the potential to.
I'm still waiting to see how he does over the rest of the season, but he has been a .300/.360/.520 hitter since June 1. Which basically is the hitter everyone thought he could be entering the 2012 season.
You could move him for prospects, but you're not going to get a guy who has a reasonable shot to hit .300/.360/.550 next season, with 30 HR/ 35 2B.
The Royals need that kind of thump to win in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
