Watched one of the best documentaries EVER last night called "Searching for Sugar Man", its about a 60's folk singer named Sixto Rodriguez from detroit who cut two albums with some big name producers who really believed in him but that ultimately went absolutely nowhere in the US.
But lo and behold, he finds out 40 years later that he was literally bigger than Elvis and the Beatles in south africa, something in his music really struck a chord with the youth of that era, largely due to the oppressive apartheid regime at the time.
Without sounding cliche, this doc takes you on his truly remarkable journey from aspiring star, to construction worker, to full blown phenomenon in SA... i cannot lie, i shed some tears of joy... if you only watch one documentary this year, make it THIS ONE.
