Tyler Bray Opens Chiefs Camp As Third Quarterback
Opening training camp as the number three quarterback isnít exactly the most glamorous thing in the world, but thatís where Tyler Bray finds himself as the Kansas City Chiefs open camp this week.
Brayís status as the third quarterback is actually an upgrade for the undrafted rookie, he worked as the fourth quarterback in mini-camps during the spring.
Itís unlikely that Bray will move further up the depth chart.
Chase Daniel, the Chiefís number two quarterback, has experience backing up a pretty good quarterback that you may have heard of ó Drew Brees.
Bray should be able to hold off Ricky Stanzi for the number three spot during training camp. The Chiefs are enamored enough with Brayís arm talent to keep him on the roster as a developmental guy. The former Vol has an upside that separates him from Stanzi.
The Chiefs picked up Alex Smith in the off-season to be their starting quarterback, but Smith definitely isnít a long-term solution. If Bray keeps his head on straight and progresses, there could be a tremendous opportunity for him in Kansas City.
