Although, technically, at this juncture I suppose everyone is at zero. Expectations are just that. Actual performance is how you measure success. And what I'm opposing doesn't have anything to do with expectations, it's about how you're using draft position as a definition for a players success, which is what you're doing every time you point out that the league let Smith slide to the second round. At this point nobody can determine whether or not the league's analysis of Smith (or any other player) was accurate or not, and it will be years before that can fairly be done. That's my point.

Again, I disagree. There are expectations based on draft position. You expect the number one overall pick to excel. You expect the #10 overall pick to excel. That's why they were chosen where they were chosen.

Expectations aren't always met.

I didn't view Smith as an NFL ready prospect and neither did 31 other teams at least once.

Do you have access to every draft board for every team? I sure don't. And you know as well as I do that just because a player didn't go in the first doesn't mean teams didn't have him rated there.

But I can guarantee that I won't spend one minute thinking about Geno Smith or lament the Chiefs passing on him if he becomes more than a serviceable NFL QB.

You sure bring him up a lot for somebody who claims not to care about him.
