The NFL doesn't exist in a vacuum. Unfortunately, there are responsibilities that go far beyond reaching for a QB.

I'd take Kolb and 2 second rounders for Alex Smith right now without blinking an eye and would try to get the deal finalized before they got a chance to think about it.
