I quit eating fast food for about 6 months and lost a ton of belly fat and felt overall healthier. I didn't do it on purpose, I just had budgetary issues that ruled fast food out for most meals. I ate it a few times over those 6 months, but I used to eat it almost every day. I was probably 210 pounds in January, and I'm 190 now. I'm a pretty slender dude, so most of that 210 pounds was disgusting belly fat.
