Really? This place was really pumped up over Tyler Bray after the Packers preseason game.
I don't think that is true at all. And no one can honestly tell me, although some will try, (clay, sdh) that there is a big enough difference in ceilings to say that having Bray, opposed to having Geno is a big deal.
Its not. The difference is that while Bray gets to take the Aaron Rodgers route, Geno Smith is having to go the Alex Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Ryan Leaf route of being the guy far too soon, even though they weren't ready to do so.
If I am not mistaken, Geno Smith was passed by the jets not once, but TWICE in the first round?
Dee Milliner, and then Sheldon Richardson? So he was their 3rd option?
Yet, he is a starter, and people are freaking out over a bad game.
Where as Chiefs fans are upset because they don't take risks with qbs.
Isnt Bray a risk? Sure, hes going to sit for a minimum of a year, probably two, but if you can win now, and groom your qb, isn't that like the ultimate situation?
And, last point. If Alex Smith does indeed fail, and the Chiefs end up with a high pick in the top 10, they can draft a qb to compete with Bray.
Seems like a pretty sound strategy to me.
