Unless they fire them "for cause" and refuse to pay them the remainder of their contract (like the chiefs did with Haley, and is farily rare in the NFL), than the chiefs would be paying Pioli and Crennel to not work, as well as pay for a new coaching staff. That cuts into profit margins. Its also the likely reason why the chiefs were trying to force Chan Gailey onto Todd Haley's staff.

If Hunt wanted to keep Pioli, he wouldn't have hired Reid, especially with the understanding that Reid wouldn't come unless he brought his own guys in. And that Reid almost certainly wouldn't want to work for Pioli.
The writing was on the wall that Pioli was out. I don't know how anyone can look at the way Hunt treated Pioli after the offseason and think that Hunt wanted to keep Pioli around. Keep in mind that Hunt made the move to make the GM report directly to Hunt, was individually responding to fan letters, was starting to lift the media blackout, stripped Pioli of all his power in the head coaching search, then hired a coach who we knew would lead to Pioli's firing.
It is insane to look at all this and think Hunt actually wanted to keep Pioli around. Actions speak much louder than words. I really don't care how he voted.
