As for live music, it's pretty common for bands I'm interested in to skip KC, but with the limited number of shows I go to, it's not a problem to find acts that appeal to me rolling through town. For example, I've been waiting for Brian Jonestown Massacre to come to KC since NewChief turned me on to the DiG documentary about them, but it doesn't seem like they make it here very often.

Let me know what you think about KROQ. When all the other stations in town (and the country, really) were playing Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Warrant and so on, they were playing Depeche, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo, Jane's Addiction, Offspring, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, RHCP and so on.
They were truly the first alternative station in the country and MTV, when it was a music channel, used to look to KROQ for guidance.
