And yes I am far more familiar of the social issues associated with many of the eastern cultures, Korean, Japanese, Chinese etc...hence why I highlighted them specifically. And realistically work has little to nothing to do with it, it's a symptom not a root cause. The issues all revolve more around family expectations and lack of communications up and down the generations. Hence why I then referenced the 'western' rates because they are more directly correlated.
See again you miss the point, the argument that people make was that guns are at fault for suicides because they are so much more lethal. That's why we should ban them, which I why I bring up the Golden Gate, because it's lethality is generally more than guns.

Lists a table of lethality from a study by pathologists and more about suicide effectiveness. While guns are high there's another method that is also almost as effective as firearms at killing yourself. That's hanging at 89.5% effectiveness for suicide.
Which if you bothered to look you would see that those countries that have heavy gun control don't have firearms as the No 1 method of suicide but hanging. Taking away the guns didn't stop them from committing suicide it just varied HOW they did it and many more chose to hang themselves.

Simply put fine you can ban all guns but there will likely be no effective drop in suicide because people will just find another almost as lethal way to commit suicide. Part of the reason that firearms are overrepresented and men as suicide victims are overrepresented too is because men tend to pick the most lethal and quickest suicide method available. Which would you pick? A gunshot and 1 minute before you die? Or hanging around for 7 minutes waiting to die?
After all you say a gun is more available to commit suicide but really which is easier to get? Going to a gun store to buy a gun and ammo to commit suicide? Or going to almost any store around to buy a nike branded rope to hang yourself with?
Considering how lethal it is and how prevalent it is in countries that already have strict gun control, should we also institute strict rope control to try to reduce this method too?
But I don't really expect you to pay much attention to this, one cannot enlighten the unconscious. You have your mind made up and are unwilling to entertain that something else might be the root cause. Spending more time and money on mental health would be far more effective at reducing suicides but our politicians don't seem to care about results just pursuing grudges.
