Another water main break-below the Target Center.

Not as bad, but

A water main break in downtown Minneapolis Tuesday morning has city crews hustling to make repairs before an 8 p.m. Minnesota Lynx game at the Target Center.

The 16-inch main broke around 6:30 a.m. underneath Second Avenue North just behind the arena, prompting the short-term closure of a couple of ramps off Interstate 394 into downtown. The ramps were reopened within a couple of hours, said Matt Laible, city spokesman, but two businesses in the Target Center -- Lifetime Fitness and Hubert's restaurant -- remain closed because the building has no water service.

Lynx spokesman Alex King said the Lynx game, against the Atlanta Dream, is still scheduled for tipoff Tuesday night.

"The latest information we have received from the city has indicated that the water main will be repaired before game time," King said in an email Tuesday afternoon. "Tonight's game is scheduled to go on as planned."

As crews work to repair the main, Second Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets remains closed, Laible said.

"Priority is to get water back on in the building," he said.

This town is falling apart.
