Alabama wanted to insure that they play both Auburn and TN. Their pushing for MU to be in the East had more to do with screwing Auburn, and really had nothing to do with Mizzou at all. It probably did not matter to Alabama if it was A & M or Mizzou in the East, as long they kept Auburn from going. That was the important factor.
