I like MLS - I think it's great for the development of soccer in this country. But it'll never mean anything until it drops the single entity structure.

Hello there, time traveler from 2005! Aside from some safeguards and revenue sharing to ensure the league stays afloat, the clubs have more or less separated into (or entered into the league as) fully fleshed out organizations of their own with separate owners for just about everyone. The only two situations where that even applies, iirc, is AEG needing to divest their last 50% of Houston, which they're about to do (completing a sale to the Rockets owners apparently), and the Hunts' plans to sell the Crew.
Then every single team will be no more connected to the others than NFL or MLB teams are. 15/19 are already completely there, to my knowledge.
The "empty stadiums" and "
no cups" stuff is pretty out there, too.
