He looked pretty sharp last night; velocity was back in the mid 90s and his off-speed pitches were working again.
Which is good because Matheny, predictably, set him up to fail. Oh's not been good against lefties this year and we have THREE left-handed relievers in the 'pen, so of course he brings him in in the middle of an inning (after warming him twice already) to face the lefty heart of the Dodgers order.
Having him face Seager was irritating because there was a 0% chance that Roberts lifts him for a pinch hitter and having him face Grandal was almost as bad given Grandal's ridiculous splits and the Dodgers likely unwillingness to go to their backup catcher in an extra inning game. Grandal can't hit lefties worth a damn but he's among the better hitters out there right now against righties.
So of course he throws Oh against Seager and Grandal.
And we have Lyons on the roster because Matheny needs his long-reliever but of course we lose a 13 inning ballgame that Lyons never appears in.
Because idiot.
