Athletes are weird. They can suck in the minors and kick ass in the Majors an vice-versa.
We have some great talent in position players coming up and DeJesus, German and kinda Teahan are already giving us a glimpse at some possibly good young talent. When Gordon and Butler come up and if JP Howell and Grienke can mature we are looking to have a much better core of players than we have now. So we are going to fish for pitching and see who pans out.

That was something Moore mentioned in his initial conference call. How last year in Atlanta, they played 18 different rookies at one time or another on the way to the division title as everyone knows... but of all the hitters, only one had a .300 average in the minor leagues. They still brought them up and they performed well and helped the team win. He didn't say how they knew or what they used to evaluate, but I guess it's a sign they know what they're doing obviously.
Blake Wood was considered a reach by everyone, but he did go to Georgia Tech... which happens to be in Atlanta. Not sure if Moore would have approved of that pick, but I'd imagine he has a pretty good idea what that guy's strengths and weaknesses are. The Braves always scour Georgia pretty hard.
