The Explorer was designed as an SUV. Back in the ‘80’s, when it was designed, SUV meant off road capable which means a high center of gravity and loose suspension.
Now that people have willingly stripped away their own personal responsibility SUV means glorified minivan because they had to be dumbed down for people that bought them thinking they could drive them like a car.

That's nice and dandy, but Ford knew what they were doing. They weren't making the Explorer for the off-roaders.
