I have a lot of respect for catchers. I played literally every position in baseball from little league up through high school, with an exception of catcher. I tried it one practice. Without a batter, I was fine...pretty good at it. However, when a batter came up and would swing, it would totally throw me off and I would get hit in the nuts, chest, mask, etc. It scared the shit out of me. I think I hesitated/flinched too much when the batter would swing. It got to the point where I said, "**** this, I'm done doing this shit" halfway through practice and went back to playing 3rd/pitcher.
