there are some good musical things going on, sure. but it isn't what it was. there was a sense of freedom and pushing barriers that inspired so many artists back then. I dropped in on the "stoner rock" etc thread and it was cool, but it's like the "lite" version of what once was.
there is very little originality/depth in music these days. folks are afraid of rejection in a mega way. most bands back then would be considered insane/creepy now.
I will stop there. I imagine I simply sound old to many of you, but you just had to be there to know what I miss about those days. forgive me, I'm just a sentimental old **** having a moment.
for those of you that like the zep and perhaps have never seen them in their heyday, please view the live doc film of "the song remains the same" for a look at zep at their best. I was at the first night of that 3 day booking, carnegie hall. they were just atomic to me. I'd post a vid but I don't want to hijack this thread further than I already have.
