Until someone gets to bring in their LOOGY and blow away your three best hitters with him. These splits matter from a strategic perspective.
ex:
A guy like Louis Coleman gets crushed by lefties but dominates righties. So, if they have 3 righties in a row, I just put a guy like Coleman in and crush the side with his closer-level performance against righties. However, you throw a lefty in there and now I may have to burn him after one guy.
The impact this has on bullpen management is crucial and underrated, imo.
