Release:03/24/2012
WICHITA, Kan. —Gregg Marshall announced he will remain Wichita State’s men’s basketball coach.

“Wichita State is a special place, with great resources, from facilities to academics to people," Marshall said. "My family and I feel this is a great place for us. I appreciate my staff and players who have achieved at a high level, and look forward to continued success.

“I appreciate the support of Wichita State University President Dr. Donald Beggs, as well as Athletic Director Dr. Eric Sexton and his staff, for their continued commitment to the program. The people at the University and in the Wichita community make this a great place to live, work and win."

In 2012, Marshall coached the Shockers to a 27-6 record, the MVC regular-season title, the NCAA Tournament and a high of No. 14 in the top 25 polls. WSU’s four-year record of 98-41, and two-year record of 56-14, are the best-ever at WSU.

In 2011, he coached the Shockers to a school-record 29 wins, including five-straight wins and the NIT Title in New York City to end the season.

Through five years at Wichita State, Marshall is 109-61, while his 14-year career record is 303-144. Marshall has also had the Shockers in postseason play the last four seasons with the CBI in 2009, the NIT in 2010 and 2011, and the NCAA Tournament in 2012.

"I am pleased to say that Gregg Marshall will continue to be the head coach at Wichita State," Sexton said. "He represents Wichita State University and
the Wichita community with the highest integrity and success. He is an excellent coach and mentor, stressing academics. We especially celebrate the last two seasons, which have included the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, the 2011 NIT Championship, the 2012 NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Top 25 rankings."

Marshall has agreed in principle to changes in his current contract, the details of which are being finalized.
