Maybe he saw Trent get 20+ carries for Cleveland and thinks that over the course of the season those carries will translate to RB1 or RB2 production which is worth infinitely more than a WR who will be lucky to break 600 yards.
People value players differently. It's the nature of the beast and always has been.

He sent me an email initially saying he wanted Thomas, so I know he values him. You think Thomas is going to be lucky to break 600 yards? That's certainly a different take.
I don't think Peyton Manning has ever had a starting WR on his offense have less than 600 yards.
