I don’t remember the timeline exactly, but I’m pretty sure the flirtations with the PAC were after it was clear TA&M and meth-u were gone.
Also, it seems that was an overlooked aspect of the Big 12 staying together. OU and TX realized that no one wanted to carry their dead-weight (TT and Ok State), and they didn’t really want to put up with the dead-weight (TT and Ok State) or the egos/network that came with TX. The big boys got slapped a little, turned to their jilted lover and said “okay, lets work this out”.
