Sporting Kansas City drinks to Boulevard marketing deal

Sporting Kansas City has tapped a marketing partnership with Boulevard Brewing Co. that will bring cross-promotional initiatives throughout the 2012 Major League Soccer season.

The partners plan co-branded offerings such as schedules, banners, custom glassware, coasters, table tents and similar items. Also, Boulevard will throw launch parties for all of its seasonal beers throughout the soccer season in Sporting Kansas City’s clubs at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., in most cases after a home match. And a billboard near the Kansas City brewery will display a co-branded message for at least nine months.

“Boulevard Brewing Co. is extremely excited to forge ahead with a much-anticipated hometown team/hometown beer partnership with Sporting Kansas City,” Bob Sullivan, Boulevard's chief sales and marketing officer, said in a release. “Our two brands have tremendous synergies, and we look forward to a long-term relationship that mutually extends our brands to both a local and regional audience.”

Andy Tretiak, Sporting Kansas City’s vice president of marketing, said he’s thrilled to partner with one of Kansas City’s iconic brands. Advertising initiatives the team is planning include a special Boulevard-branded ticket offer.

“It’s a natural fit for us to align with Boulevard, and we have some exciting plans in the works to promote the partnership,” Tretiak said in the release. “Boulevard will also be a great addition to the outstanding beer offerings we have at Livestrong Sporting Park.”
