Man, I'll certainly try. I love golf. I just hate sucking at it. It infuriates me because my whole life I've watched people be good at it.

Your dad's success in hockey helped make him a great golfer, as the action of a slapshot is the best analogue for a correct golf swing.
If you are the more hard-headed type, just put a 2x4 just to the outside of your ball. You'll either fix your swing plane or break your wrist.
