Always an interesting subject. Sad for the kid, but I'm not one to test the ownership of a Pitbull. I shared a Dobie with a girlfriend one time, and after a while it just wasn't worth it. Too much stigma from friends who knew she was was fine. She was a great guard dog, but never hurt a fly. I personally will never get another dog that's thought to be mean, it's just not worth it.
Now, the dog I have now is a mutt, and she's smarter than any of the many Labs, Ches-Bays, or the Dobie. And she is THE MOST LOVED DOG IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Brought her out today, and within ten minutes, 4 8-year-old girls are brushing her! LOL, kids are awesome!
Not having that stigma is nice, but I respect those who love whatever breed they happen to love.
