That's a painfully stupid way to look at that.
In 2011, Alex was a top 10 ranked QB that was a Kyle Williams fumble away from helping SF to a SB. In 2012, he helped them to a 6-2 record and ranked in the top 5 in QB passer rating when he sustained that concussion.
Harbaugh saw his opportunity to get "his boy" Kaepernick in there and he took it. No doubt Kaepernick has sick abilities that few if any others have. He was planned out as the eventual starter, but got his chance early and never looked back. It wasn't a knock on Alex... he didn't lose his job to some scrub.
At least try and keep it real.
