I think you are not completely grasping the word "intelligence" too. There are many different types of intelligence. Many beautiful people use their intelligence to persuade and gain power in society. Is it an anomaly that business men and women are typically much better looking than the population on average? Certainly not, they have charisma and ability to work people extremely well.

I think the common conception is that "nerdy" looking people are smarter. Sometimes this is the case, but alot of times it is because they have less of a social life growing up and thus seek other ways to empower themselves whereas alot of the better looking people play sports, party and build relationships that will benefit their life.
