It is absolutely imperative that they put a respectable team on the field in 2013, for many reasons. Do you really believe that any of the available QB's were capable of leading the team to a respectable record?

Their alternative was to take a young QB in this draft (in Round 1, or Round 2, or by using Round 2 to trade back into the latter stages of Round 1). Show the effort to develop their own.
There are many (myself included) who would support the team through an effort like that, even if it resulted in 2-14 this season while they got shellacked several times.
And if that young QB doesn't work out very well? Congrats, you're in place to take a stab at another next year.
