That's not a valid comparison, really. There was a massive increase in crude prices in 2008 and then a massive decrease. Gasoline was all over the place as retailers tried to guess what was going to happen.

But, since you asked, in August 2008, crude was $115 and gasoline was $3.83. This was a few weeks into the massive drop.
