As much as Matheny, I'd like to have seen Mabry's impact on him.
The Cardinals most assuredly didn't fleece Toronto in that trade, they'd make it 100 times out of 100.
The Cardinals, in fact, still lost that trade by virtue of the fact that Jackson and Dotel could've been acquired for nothing more than the salary relief the Blue Jays gave the White Sox that morning to acquire them.
The Cardinals wanted to get rid of a player to appease a manager. At the least they should've held out and sent him to the Rays for Cobb as rumored, then turned around and offered the salary relief for Dotel and Jackson.
The players we got were huge, but they shouldn't have cost Rasmus.
And yes, 1000X times yes, I'd give up assets for Jose Reyes. His teammates love him and he'd bring even more energy to the squad. He an absolutely perfect fit for the team.
