I am 45 years old and I do not do p90x or Insanity. Do not have the time or the money to buy the program. I know the program works because my friends use them DO get into shape and lose weight.

But as for me, I work out combination of cardio and resistance training (4 -5 times a week, 20-30 minutes per session). Lost 20 lbs of pure fat and gained 4 lbs of lean muscle with six-pack.

After many tries, I realized that at my age (45), exercise alone does not make you lose weight. You must also have sensible diet. I changed only ONE eating habit and I began to lose the weight fast. I eat breakfast and lunch normally (Pizza, buffet, etc). BUT I eat instant oatmeal (1 serving) for dinner. That's it.

I am lighter, stronger, and definitely fit for my age. And the ultimate test for your shape is whether you could do a superman pushup. Link below:

Basically, you want to come up with the workout that works for you. And then eat sensibly. In my case, eating instant oatmeal (1 serving) helped to lose weight. Hope you reach your goal! Don't give up and enjoy the pain and soreness of workout!
