Meyer runs a run and gun style of offense out of a option spread attack. He used many of his receivers on go routes constantly. Ohio State spreads you out horizontally by formation and vertically by route design so that they can unstack the box and focus primarily on their zone read option rushing attack. This is a team with QBs that aren't really good QBs, but they can run the football and they can throw deep balls. They don't do much dink and dunk you stuff. I don't think a single QB on their roster can actually read a defense. I wouldn't focus on whether or not he got balls his way on other routes because that simply didn't define the way Ohio State played the game.
Videos will show that he can run every route in the tree, and it would surprise you just how good he is on slants and digs which happen to be bread and butter routes in the WCO. Everyone on the planet knows just how good he is deep, and that can't be taught, but to dismiss his other skills I find to be an injustice to him as a player.
