The answer is that Dayton Moore is a very smart GM who has earned our trust. Besides, the trades of Wade Davis and Jarrod Dyson could hardly be called salary dumps. GMDM decided that we need a power hitting outfielder and another starting pitcher. Closers have a limited shelf life. Trading a closer for a relatively young power hitter isn't a bad deal. Neither is trading your 4th outfielder for a power arm to add to the starting rotation.
