What was their previous logo? I was always familiar with the orange "T", but I never know of a dog of any kind.
Besides being a fairly pussy looking dog, this logo has other problems. I'm a graphic designer who does some logo work, and one of the biggest issues here is that this logo has so many colors and such complex lines that it can't be reproduced easily and cost effectily in different mediums. How good will this look in one-color, say on a fax cover sheet? How expensive will it be to embroider it onto the left chest of a polo shirt?
I'm a KU fan (despite being a K-State employee), so this is in no way a homer comment, but the K-State powercat is the perfect college logo in so many ways. It looks tough and modern, and works great in one-color (in fact, it's basically always one color). It's effective, affordable, and easy to reproduce just about anywhere.
This Tennesee logo sucks on many, many levels.
