You're right that fans wouldn't care.
But potential coaches, FAs, etc... would. And guess what, we're not getting the potential coaches, FAs, etc... that actually
create winning precisely because of these stories.
If you win
first, then you can be a complete shithead because people like being associated with a winner. But you can't be a shithead first, then expect to assemble a winning staff.
