I'm surprised at the backlash to grape juice. I realize it's a unique element, but whats the huge difference between that and lime or apple juices which are used frequently for cooking?

Lime, lemon and orange juices are used for acidity. I don't know of any main courses that use apple. That is not to say there are none.
