Had the Broncos not been able to get Manning their starting QB would have been Tebow. I like the guy, but he has a long way to go to be an elite QB. They got rid of a young franchise QB (which the Chiefs fan base would kill for) for practically peanuts. Marshall was a head case no doubt, but he was an elite talent. In a QB driven league you don't get rid of a young franchise QB unless you can't resign him or you get a better young one to replace him. The players gained do not offset the loss of a franchise QB like Cutler, and that is without throwing in a Top 5-10 receiver like Marshall. Denver lost more than they gained. It is not as obvious because they ended up getting Manning.
